Gardenary
Project Overview
Gardenary is an innovative e-learning platform that connects aspiring gardeners with expert coaches. The platform democratizes gardening knowledge and makes it accessible to everyone, regardless of experience level.
Our mission was to create a comprehensive digital ecosystem that combines personalized coaching, structured learning paths, and a supportive community to help people grow successful gardens.

The Problem
Many people want to start gardening but don't know where to begin. Our research showed that 73% of new gardeners quit within the first year due to lack of guidance. Generic online resources don't address individual growing conditions, local gardening expertise is often inaccessible or expensive, and there's no structured learning path from beginner to advanced gardening.
While there's abundant gardening information online, it's fragmented, overwhelming, and doesn't provide the personalized guidance that beginners need to succeed.
User Research Insights
Beginner Gardeners
Want step-by-step guidance tailored to their space, need confidence-building through small wins, prefer visual learning with photos and videos, and value community support and encouragement.
Intermediate Gardeners
Want to expand beyond basic vegetables, need troubleshooting help for specific problems, are interested in advanced techniques and optimization, and value expert validation of their methods.
Key Finding
"I have so many gardening books and YouTube subscriptions, but I still kill my plants. I need someone to tell me exactly what to do for MY garden, not gardens in general."

User Retention
The platform has fostered a thriving community of gardeners who share success stories, troubleshoot problems together, and inspire newcomers to start their growing journey. Our coach network has grown to 50+ certified professionals, with an average rating of 4.9/5 and 95% coach retention rate.
Key Learnings
Personalization is Key
The matching algorithm was crucial for success. Users who were matched based on their specific conditions had 3x higher success rates than those who chose coaches randomly.
Mobile-First Learning
60% of users access the platform from their gardens using mobile devices. Designing for outdoor use with high contrast and simple interactions was essential.
Progressive Disclosure
New gardeners felt overwhelmed by too much information. Breaking content into digestible, seasonal chunks improved completion rates by 40%.
Celebrate Small Wins
Adding progress tracking and celebrating milestones (first sprout, first harvest) significantly increased user engagement and motivation.
